A man presumed to be a supporter of President Yoon Suk-yeol died after attempting self-immolation and receiving treatment.

According to the police on the 19th, Mr. A (79) passed away around 1 p.m. while receiving treatment at a specialized burn hospital in Seoul. On the 7th, around noon, Mr. A attempted self-immolation on the rooftop of a building in Jung-gu, Seoul, after distributing leaflets supporting President Yoon. The leaflets he distributed reportedly contained the phrase "Long live President Yoon Suk-yeol."

At the scene, an exhibition hall official extinguished the fire with a fire extinguisher and reported the incident to the police and fire authorities, which helped to control the situation. Mr. A was initially reported to be in stable condition immediately after the incident but ultimately died after 12 days.

Meanwhile, this is the second time a person known to be a supporter of President Yoon has died from self-immolation. On January 15, when the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Unit (Hogeum Gongjikja Beomjoe Susa Cheo, Gongsoocheo) attempted to arrest President Yoon, a man in his 50s tried to self-immolate near the Government Complex Gwacheon in Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, where the unit is located. This man died on the 20th of the same month.
