Suggestions for System Improvements
to Reduce Corporate Burden and Expand Benefits
for Faithful Taxpayers
The Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gyeongnam held a meeting on the 19th in the chamber’s conference room, inviting Lee Dongwoon, Commissioner of the Busan Regional Tax Office, to discuss tax-related matters concerning local businesses.
About 20 people attended the meeting, including Choi Jaeho, Chairman of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, other chamber members, Lee Dongwoon, Commissioner of the Busan Regional Tax Office, and related officials from the tax office.
During the meeting, the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry conveyed major requests from businesses, such as expanding the scope and usage of tax points, easing the penalty rate for delayed tax payments, and changing the terminology used for tax audits.
Specifically, they requested to increase the usability of tax points so that companies can benefit more practically, to relax the delayed payment penalty rate to within twice the interest rate of national tax refunds, and to improve the negative perception of tax audits by adopting more cooperative terminology.
Lee Dongwoon, Commissioner of the Busan Regional Tax Office, stated, “I would like to express my gratitude to the local business community for serving as a strong pillar of the regional economy through job creation and faithful tax payment despite difficult economic conditions. We will actively reflect the various opinions of the business community related to tax administration and provide the utmost support from a tax perspective to help revitalize the Changwon region’s economy.”
