Uijeongbu City Youth Culture Space Creation Project
A Cultural Space Created Directly by Young People
Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 19th that it has decided to transform the former Fusion Culture and Tourism Promotion Center located in Uijeongbu-dong into a ‘Youth Culture Space’ and is recruiting a ‘Small Success Planning Group’ that will be planned and operated directly by young people.
The Small Success Planning Group is an organization aimed at making the Youth Culture Space a place where young people can realize their potential and content. It will consist of about 20 members and begin full-scale activities starting in April.
The planning group will plan and operate various programs such as the ‘Youth Community Salon,’ which holds dialogue and walking meetings that highlight the characteristics of the space and region, and the ‘20-Page Independent Publishing Club,’ where young people create content based on their strengths and dreams.
The city is reviewing systematic support measures to enable young people to become not just users but key operators of the space, including issuing appointment letters and activity certificates, providing opportunities to operate personal plans in idle spaces, and giving priority selection opportunities for the space planning group scheduled for May.
This recruitment is part of the ‘Youth Culture Space Creation Project,’ which is expected to create a space where ideas planned directly by young people are realized and creative attempts are freely made. Furthermore, it is anticipated to revitalize local youth culture and establish a new youth-led space operation model.

Lee Young-seok, head of the Youth Policy Division, said, “The Small Success Planning Group will be a valuable cornerstone for a new and bold attempt to make young people not just simple users but key operators of the newly created Youth Culture Space. We will promote policies that maximize the creativity and capabilities of young people so that Uijeongbu youth become a subject of admiration and enjoy diverse cultures, establishing the external perception of ‘Uijeongbu-reoun Youth.’”
