Top Ranking in Two Washer and Dryer Set Categories in U.S. Consumer Reports Evaluation
Recent Global Market Share Also Highlights Success
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics' washer and dryer sets ranked first in major categories in an evaluation conducted by a U.S. consumer media outlet.
According to the industry on the 10th, in the recent 'Best Washer and Dryer Sets (Combinations)' evaluation conducted by the U.S. consumer media Consumer Reports, LG Electronics received the highest ratings in two categories: drum washer and dryer sets, and agitator washer and dryer sets.
The media explained that LG Electronics' drum washer and dryer set, which scored the highest score (88 points) in the evaluation, "both devices have excellent performance and have also received the Energy Star certification given to high-efficiency products," adding, "Among them, the drum washer also received the highest score in a separately conducted product reliability survey."
Samsung Electronics ranked first in the agitator washer and dryer set category, and German brand Miele took first place in the compact washer and dryer category.
This survey comprehensively evaluated about 70 washer and dryer sets sold as pairs at U.S. retailers, based on performance, price, and energy efficiency.
The strong performance of domestic companies is also reflected in actual market share. Last year, in the U.S., the world's largest premium home appliance market, LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics held market shares of 23.4% (1st place) and 21.6% (2nd place) respectively in the washer market, and 23.2% and 22.2% respectively in the dryer market, ranking first and second and accounting for about half of the total market.
In particular, LG Electronics recently ranked first for six consecutive years as a comprehensive home appliance company manufacturing all eight major categories of appliances including refrigerators, dishwashers, washers, and dryers in the 'Most Reliable Home Appliance Brands' survey released by Consumer Reports.
