Applications Accepted Until the 14th
For Farms with Cultivation Areas of 1,000 Square Meters or Less
Namwon City in North Jeolla Province is accepting applications for the 'Rice Seedling Soil Support Project' until the 14th.
According to the city on the 7th, this project was launched to help rice-producing farmers secure seedling soil and solve difficulties in rice seedling cultivation.
The support is available to farmers and agricultural corporations cultivating rice in Namwon City with a cultivation area of 1,000 square meters or less, excluding those who farm but reside outside the city.
To select seedling soil suppliers, the city held a unit price bidding process on the 5th, determining supply and subsidy unit prices for six types of seedling soil (lightweight, semi-heavy, heavy, granular, organic, and mat types). Applications are currently being accepted at the administrative welfare centers of each town, township, and neighborhood according to the applicant's address.
Once the supply quantity is finalized, the city plans to invest 1.6 billion won from the municipal budget to supply seedling soil to rice farmers and agricultural corporations in the area through local agricultural cooperatives by the end of this month, before the start of the farming season.
A city official stated, "Supplying seedling soil suitable for rice seedling cultivation helps alleviate labor shortages caused by the aging rural workforce and reduce agricultural management costs, and it greatly contributes to establishing a stable farming foundation for high-quality rice production. We will ensure timely supply of seedling soil to farmers to avoid any disruptions in farming operations."
