Busan Urban Corporation Conducts Safety Inspections at All Sites in Preparation for Thawing Season

Shin Changho, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC), visited the construction site of the Happy Housing in front of City Hall on the 6th to inspect the safety management status in preparation for the thawing season.

This inspection was conducted to prepare for the thawing season, a disaster-prone period when the ground surface, which had been frozen during winter, melts and the ground becomes weakened.

Shin Changho and the BMC management have formed an inspection team with private experts in soil and foundation fields to jointly inspect major facilities such as large-scale construction sites, rental apartments, and steep slopes from the 5th to the 18th in response to these issues.

The inspection team will focus on ▲ collapses and overturns of retaining walls, stone embankments, and earth retaining structures ▲ cracks and leaks in walls, drainage channels, and buildings ▲ risks of construction machinery collapse, collision, and entrapment.

In addition, to prevent accidents similar to the recent Anseong bridge collapse, the team will also conduct intensive inspections of the structural stability, ground subsidence, and load distribution at bridge construction sites.

To strengthen accident prevention, BMC will promptly address any hazards identified during the inspection that can be immediately remedied on-site. Matters requiring repair, reinforcement, or detailed safety diagnosis will be thoroughly reviewed for follow-up action.

Shin Changho emphasized, "Since the thawing season is a time when the ground weakens and the risk of accidents increases, we will do our utmost to protect the lives and property of citizens through proactive inspections and thorough safety management."
