Applications must be submitted by October 31 this year
200,000 to 300,000 KRW per new student
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) announced on the 7th that the entrance preparation fund, which was previously provided to reduce the educational expenses burden on parents of elementary, middle, and high school students and to support students' smooth school life, will be expanded to students entering schools outside Seoul as well.
This project is being promoted in collaboration with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education and the Seoul Metropolitan Government, aiming to provide entrance preparation funds to about 5,000 new students in elementary, middle, and high schools within the district. In particular, while previously only students entering schools in Seoul were eligible, starting this year, benefits will also be provided to students attending schools in other regions. However, duplicate payments are not allowed if entrance preparation funds or similar support have already been received from other local governments.
Gangbuk-gu provides 200,000 KRW per elementary school new student and 300,000 KRW per middle and high school new student. The support funds can be used to purchase school uniforms, clothing, shoes, bags, stationery, books, glasses, electronic devices, and the like, but cannot be used at restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, or for tuition fees.
The entrance preparation fund can be used by registering the gift certificate (PIN number) received via Zero Pay point notification talk on the 'Beeple Pay' app, and then purchasing school preparation items at Zero Pay affiliated stores.
The application period is from the 10th of this month to October 31st, and applications can be submitted at any time. Parents who wish to apply should bring their resident registration certificate or transcript and visit the Education Support Division of Gangbuk-gu Office to fill out the application form.
Mayor Lee Soon-hee said, "Through the support of the entrance preparation fund, we will do our best to reduce the economic burden on parents and help students start their studies in a more stable environment," adding, "We will continue to expand educational welfare policies for students in the future."
