Mental Health Counseling Also Provided Alongside Internal Medicine and Obstetrics Services
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province operates free medical service volunteer activities to improve the health of medically vulnerable groups such as foreign workers and multicultural family residents, in collaboration with the Hwaseong City Medical Sharing Volunteer Group.
This year, the free medical services will be held five times in total, starting at Hwaseong City Western Public Health Center on the 23rd of this month, followed by April 20, June 15, August 17, and October 19. Any foreigner or multicultural family residing in Hwaseong City can receive free medical treatment.
The free medical services will offer a wide range of medical care including internal medicine, dentistry, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, as well as mental health counseling, physical therapy, medication support, and dispensing.
The Hwaseong City Medical Sharing Volunteer Group includes 15 institutions such as Dongtan City Hospital, Wonkwang General Hospital, the Korean Physical Therapy Association, Hwaseong City Pharmacists Association, and Hwaseong City Western Public Health Center. Starting this year, medical volunteer teams from local universities have also joined, bringing the total to more than 17 institutions providing professional and diverse medical services.
The city plans to strengthen prior promotion efforts together with the Hwaseong City Foreigners Welfare Center, Hwaseong City Entrepreneurs Association, and Hwaseong City Small Business Association to ensure that more foreign workers can benefit from medical services.
Jung Myung-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong City, stated, "We will eliminate medical blind spots for marginalized groups including foreign workers and strengthen the foundation for coexistence and cooperation within the local community."
