Number of Directors Born in the 1980s Increased to 17
Number of Female General Directors Rose from 1 to 3
The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced on the 5th that it has carried out regular personnel appointments at the director level this year to proactively respond to domestic and international uncertainties and actively support the recovery of the livelihood economy.
In this personnel appointment, the Ministry focused on placing talented individuals with diverse experiences and capabilities in the right positions to solve complex policy tasks. Efforts were also made to harmoniously allocate emerging talents and experienced personnel to simultaneously pursue organizational innovation and continuity.
The Ministry explained, "This director-level appointment was finalized after the Deputy Prime Minister discussed the personnel standards and direction with the 1st and 2nd Vice Ministers, and reflected the opinions of Grade 1 officials and bureau chiefs based on the results of individual preference surveys for departments."
The Ministry conducted the largest-ever personnel reshuffle by replacing 102 out of 119 director positions (86%) to enhance organizational dynamism and vitality. In particular, the number of directors from the 50th to 51st cohorts was doubled from 11 last year to 22 this year. The number of directors born in the 1980s also increased significantly from 10 to 17. Boram Jeon, Director of the Sustainable Economy Division, was born in 1984.
Among the 46th cohort, talented individuals with outstanding work performance and expertise were actively promoted, replacing general directors of departments mainly from the 44th-45th cohorts to the 45th-46th cohorts. The number of female general directors of departments increased from 1 last year to 3 this year, actively appointing capable female talents to key positions. These include Jeonghyun Park, Director of Development Finance (45th cohort), Jiwon Lee, Director of Fiscal Management (45th cohort), and Jiyoung Choi, Director of Supply Chain Policy (46th cohort).
Additionally, to eliminate departmental silos and strengthen communication, the Ministry implemented personnel changes in the offices of the 1st and 2nd Vice Ministers (13 people), aiming to improve organizational productivity and individual capabilities simultaneously. The newly established director-level strategic personnel exchange positions increased from 1 case last year to 3 cases this year, and the Ministry plans to assign suitable candidates through inter-ministerial consultations in the future to share mutual expertise and strengthen policy collaboration.
