Jo Yeon-jae, a dancer of the National Ballet Company, was promoted to the highest rank within the ballet company, Principal Dancer, after 7 years since joining, the National Ballet Company announced on the 31st.
Jo Yeon-jae joined the National Ballet Company in 2018. Despite being at the lowest rank, Corps de Ballet 2, in her first year, she began to attract attention by taking on the lead role of "Marie" in "The Nutcracker" at the end of the year. Since then, she has performed as a principal dancer in the National Ballet Company's representative classical works such as "Giselle," "Le Corsaire," "La Bayad?re," and "Don Quixote," and also delivered impressive performances in modern and dramatic ballets like "The Little Mermaid" (choreographed by John Neumeier), "Ssss..." (choreographed by Edward Clug), and "Artifact II" (choreographed by William Forsythe), showcasing deep expressiveness and stable skills.
Jo Yeon-jae was promoted to Principal Dancer again just one year after being promoted to Soloist last year.
The National Ballet Company also announced that Jung Eun-ji, who joined in 2021 and delivered excellent performances in "Don Quixote," "Jewels," and "The Nutcracker," was promoted to Demi-Soloist, and Lee Eun-seo was also promoted to Demi-Soloist.
Gwak Dong-hyun was promoted to Corps de Ballet 1.
