Each program helps children become familiar with nature by observing the ecology of Yangjaecheon and learning about the growth process of rice plants. Last year, a total of about 14,000 people participated in 10 ecological experience programs operated at Yangjaecheon, including these programs, receiving great responses.

The Excellent Environmental Education Program designation system is established under Article 21 of the Environmental Education Act, which evaluates and designates environmental education programs based on their eco-friendliness, excellence, and safety. This selection is the result of national-level verification of Yangjaecheon’s rich biodiversity and the value of eco-friendly education. The ecological and environmental education conducted at Yangjaecheon, where nature and humans harmoniously coexist, contributes to raising awareness of the importance of nature within the urban environment.

This year, the district will operate 10 ecological and environmental education programs, including these excellent programs. Participants can join programs such as ‘Yangjaecheon Environmental Classroom,’ which teaches the value of ecological restoration of Yangjaecheon, and ‘Happy Talk Talk! Green Exploration Team,’ which combines visits to ecological learning exhibition halls with insect specimen making and wetland experiences. Those interested in participating can check the programs on the Seoul Public Reservation Service website and make reservations starting from the 10th of each month.

District Mayor Jo Seong-myeong stated, “Yangjaecheon is a representative case of natural urban stream restoration and a key ecological attraction in Gangnam-gu where residents can experience nature and enjoy leisure time,” adding, “We will continue to develop programs that utilize Yangjaecheon’s excellent natural resources to satisfy more users.”
