Gangchon Park Book Shelter is a nature-friendly space where people can enjoy reading and leisure within the city, newly renovated from the existing Gangchon Park Small Library.
The Gangchon Park Book Shelter is a cozy space of about 33.8㎡, equipped with approximately 2,500 books for various age groups. It features 10 seats in a comfortable setting.
The operating hours are from 1 PM to 5 PM on weekdays, Monday through Friday, allowing visitors to enjoy reading and relaxation in a comfortable environment where books and nature harmonize.
Gangchon Park Book Shelter aims to go beyond a simple reading space by offering various reading culture programs and utilizing the space to engage with citizens.
In the mornings on weekdays, the space is available free of charge for reading clubs to support their activities. In the afternoons, it will be open for free book browsing and reading culture experiences to communicate with citizens.
Starting in April, outdoor reading culture programs utilizing the park will also be held. Various events such as an independent film festival and serial publication sharing events are planned. Through these, Gangchon Park Book Shelter will be supported to establish itself as a cultural hub that breathes with the local residents.
A representative from the Library Center stated, “We hope that Gangchon Park Book Shelter will become a healing spot in the city where books and nature coexist.”
