The Korea Automobile Journalists Association announced on the 20th that a total of 15 vehicles from 12 complete car and imported car brands were selected in the first round of the final evaluation for the 2025 Korea Car Of The Year (K-COTY).
The first round of the final evaluation was conducted over four days starting from the 14th, targeting vehicles released last year (including facelifts) that passed the preliminary evaluations in the first and second halves of the year. The 15 vehicles that passed this round will compete in the final on-road evaluation held on the 6th of next month at the Korea Transportation Safety Authority Automobile Safety Research Institute in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. After the final evaluation, awards will be given in eight categories including Car of the Year. Fifty-eight member companies of the association each exercise one voting right.
In the Car of the Year category, 10 vehicles passed the first evaluation: Kia EV3, Renault Grand Koleos, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Mini Countryman, BMW New X3 and 5 Series (530e), Toyota Camry, Porsche Panamera, Polestar Polestar 4, and Hyundai Casper Electric. In the SUV category, three vehicles?Kia EV3, Renault Grand Koleos, and BMW New X3?secured their places in the final evaluation.
In the Utility category, two vehicles?Lexus LM 500h and Hyundai Staria Hybrid?passed the first round of the final evaluation. In the EV category, three vehicles?Kia EV3, Polestar Polestar 4, and Hyundai Casper Electric?will compete in the final on-road evaluation.
In the Design category, six vehicles advanced to the finals: Kia EV3, Land Rover All New Range Rover, Renault Grand Koleos, Mini Countryman, Cadillac Lyriq, and Polestar Polestar 4. In the Performance category, four vehicles passed: BMW New X3, Porsche Panamera, Taycan, and Polestar Polestar 4.
