Gohung Yuzu Festival Selected as Jeonnam Province's Representative Festival for Two Consecutive Years

Selected as an Excellent Festival
Receives 30 Million Won in Support Funds

Goheung County in Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Youngmin) announced on the 20th that its signature local event, the ‘Goheung Yuzu Festival,’ has been selected as an Excellent Festival by the 2025 Jeollanam-do Representative Festival Review Committee.

Following its selection as a Promising Festival last year, the Goheung Yuzu Festival has now been recognized as an Excellent Festival, proving its status as a top-tier festival representing not only the region but also Jeollanam-do as a whole.

The 4th Goheung Yuzu Festival, held from November 7 to 10 last year under the slogan “In November, Goheung is Yuzutopia,” showcased a variety of experiences and programs centered around yuzu, Goheung’s pride, and attracted over 170,000 visitors.

The festival was praised not only as a venue for unity between local farmers and residents, but also for providing unforgettable memories to visitors through a wealth of content such as the sale of Goheung’s specialty products, the Goheung 9 Delicacies Food Festival, and nighttime yuzu orchard illuminations.

In particular, this year’s festival received high marks for being organized through practical planning meetings between residents and public officials without the use of an external agency, for extending yuzu sales after the festival to promote local agricultural product consumption, and for making a tangible contribution to the Goheung economy by revitalizing tourism.

Jeollanam-do comprehensively evaluated the festival’s planning, contribution to the local economy, and originality of content, and selected the Goheung Yuzu Festival as an excellent representative festival.

Governor Gong Youngmin stated, “The selection of the Goheung Yuzu Festival as an excellent representative festival of Jeollanam-do is thanks to the efforts of our residents and all those involved. Building on this achievement, we will further develop the Goheung Yuzu Festival and do our utmost to establish Goheung’s yuzu and agricultural specialties as beloved brands both domestically and internationally.”
