Acting Commissioner of the National Police Agency Lee Ho-young stated on the 20th that there is "no such fact" in response to People Power Party lawmaker Yoon Sang-hyun's remark that protesters in detention would be released with a warning.
During the plenary session of the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee that day, Acting Commissioner Lee made this statement when Democratic Party lawmaker Yang Bu-nam asked, "Has the police ever promised to release them with a warning?"
Lawmaker Yang said, "Lawmaker Yoon lied to the protesters, giving them a false sense of security that it was okay to riot, which became the driving force behind the attack on the Seoul Western District Court. He must bear legal and political responsibility."
Earlier, on the afternoon of the 18th, lawmaker Yoon said in front of the Seoul Western District Court to supporters of President Yoon Seok-yeol, "Our 17 young people are in detention after climbing over the fence, and I spoke with the officials," adding, "They will probably be released with a warning soon. That is what we expect."
