Maghsoudloo is an underground singer who has been active under the stage name 'Amir Tataloo.' He gained popularity among young Iranians with music that combines rhythm and blues (R&B), rap, and pop music, and attracted attention for his flashy tattoos covering his face and body as well as bold lyrics criticizing Iranian politics. In 2015, he also released a song supporting Iran's nuclear weapons program.
Having stayed in Istanbul, T?rkiye since 2018, he was repatriated to Iran by Turkish police in 2023 and is currently detained. In the past, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison by an Iranian court for propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran, publishing obscene materials, and advocating prostitution.
Meanwhile, on the 3rd, the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), which opposes the Islamic Republic of Iran, revealed that the Ali Khamenei regime executed 1,000 death sentences in 2024, an unprecedented number in the past 30 years. This averages to about 19 executions per week. According to NCRI, this is approximately a 16% increase compared to 864 executions in 2023. According to a report by Amnesty International, Iran's executions in 2023 accounted for about 74% of all executions recorded worldwide.
NCRI also claimed that among the 1,000 executed prisoners across 86 prisons in Iran last year, 34 were women and 7 were juvenile offenders. Considering secret executions, the actual number is believed to be much higher. Notably, 47% of last year's executions were concentrated in the last quarter. NCRI criticized this, stating that the regime created an atmosphere of fear to protect its survival amid escalating political, economic, and social crises last year. Among these, Iran reportedly carried out 12 hangings on January 1, the first day of the new year.
