30,000 KRW Support Per Day
Up to 4 Nights and 5 Days Available
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 20th that it will implement the 'Companion Animal Care Support Project' for vulnerable groups starting this year.
This project provides financial support for vulnerable groups raising registered companion animals with addresses in the city to use entrusted care services at 143 registered local animal care management companies during long-term absences such as the Lunar New Year holiday.
The support targets recipients of basic living subsidies, lower-income groups, single-parent families, and people with severe disabilities. The service can be used for up to 4 nights and 5 days, with 30,000 KRW supported per night. Up to two animals per household can use the service.
The city expects this project to not only reduce the burden of raising companion animals for vulnerable groups but also prevent animal neglect or abandonment and contribute to raising the level of animal welfare.
Jung Myung-geun, mayor of Hwaseong City, said, "Welfare policies that coexist with animals have become an essential task, not a choice," and added, "We will continue to strive to actively promote various companion animal projects that meet the demands of citizens."
