Recruiting 24 Third and Fourth Graders Starting from the 21st
Sujido Library in Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do will operate the 'Afrog (Afrog) Cultural Special Lecture,' which teaches the history and culture of Africa to 3rd and 4th-grade elementary school students, starting from the 11th of next month.
'Afrog (Afrog)' is a compound word of 'Afro,' meaning Africa, and 'frog,' meaning frog, with the purpose of broadening horizons by learning about the history and culture of Africa, which is usually difficult to encounter, like a frog coming out of a well to experience a new world.
This special lecture is conducted in collaboration with the Africa Research Center at Kyung Hee University. Professors Oh Jeong-sook, Yoon Yoo-seok, Kim Young, and senior researcher Yoo Hye-rim from Seoul National University will give the lectures.
The lectures will be held four times from the 11th to the 14th of next month. The lecture topics for each session are ▲11th 'Life Wisdom Learned from African Folktales' ▲12th 'African Designers Speaking Through Fashion' ▲13th 'Meeting Superheroes through African Animation' ▲14th 'Africans Who Changed the World.'
There are 24 participants for the lectures, and registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis through the library website starting from the 21st. A library official said, "It will be a valuable time for children to learn about Africa, which is usually difficult to access, and to broaden their understanding of other cultures."
