POSCO Future M Receives Ministerial Commendations from Three Ministries for 'Export Promotion and Environmental Protection'

Posco Future M announced on the 20th that it received commendations from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Environment, and the Ministry of Employment and Labor in recognition of its contributions to export promotion, environmental protection, and accident prevention.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy awarded a ministerial commendation to Posco Future M in recognition of the increased production capacity and early export achievements of its Pohang anode material plant. Posco Future M began full-scale operation of the Pohang anode material plant last year and improved anode material production capacity and quality through a process improvement project. In addition, the early yield stabilization of the Pohang NCA anode material dedicated plant, completed last year, contributed to export expansion by starting full-scale operation in October. The commendation was received by Jeong Han-seok, Head of the Technology Planning Group, as the representative.

The Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Employment and Labor awarded ministerial commendations recognizing Posco Future M’s achievements in environmental protection and accident prevention. When establishing the wastewater treatment facility at the Gwangyang anode material plant, Posco Future M contributed to the government’s related industrial standard environmental policy formulation through close communication with the Ministry of Environment, and was also recognized for developing magnesium hydroxide used for purifying water and air pollution. The commendation was received by Jeong Dong-gil, Head of the Gwangyang Safety and Environment Group, as the representative.

The Gwangyang anode material plant attracted attention for its achievements in strengthening disaster prevention activities by actively adopting smart safety technologies. In particular, short-form safety-related content was produced so that workers could check videos in real time at the respective locations via QR codes, and the “Smart Safety Ball,” a portable composite gas detector shaped like a ball developed by Posco, was introduced to reduce the risk of work in confined spaces. The Smart Safety Ball, developed by Posco in 2021, is a safety tool that measures oxygen and harmful gas concentrations in confined spaces in advance and transmits the data in real time to workers, managers, and the control room by linking with smartphones. It is a miniature, ultra-lightweight throwable gas detector with a diameter of 60 mm and a weight of 100 g.

A Posco Future M official stated, “This year as well, we will establish manufacturing competitiveness through stable operations and innovative productivity increases at newly established plants in Pohang and Gwangyang, and based on a solid ESG management system, we will work to protect the environment and create a safe working environment.”
