‘My Favorite Month’ Contest: Busan City’s YouTube Channel Art Remade
Six Artists Create Webtoons Based on Selected Stories, Available for PC, Smartphone, and Tablet
The banner image of Busan City's YouTube channel, ‘BusanTube,’ will be changed to works by Busan webtoon artists in the new year.
Busan City announced on the 15th that it will showcase 12 webtoon works every month.
This project is based on the winning entries of the story contest event ‘My Favorite Month,’ held for the second time following last year to expand communication with citizens.
Six Busan webtoon artists will present new channel art every month to promote the charm of Busan nationwide and strengthen communication with citizens. The channel art will also be provided as wallpapers for PCs, smartphones, and tablets, allowing citizens to access it in various ways.
BusanTube held a story contest event last December about the favorite month of the year, openly recruiting stories from citizens nationwide. Busan webtoon artists directly participated in selecting the stories and remade them into webtoon works. These works will decorate the BusanTube channel art every month.
The participating artists are six webtoon artists active in Busan: ▲Hwang Ga-eun (Forest, Camping Site, and Cat) ▲Nam Jeong-hoon (Mascot Mascot, Child) ▲Kim Su-an (Wangkkaechil) ▲Kim Hye-won (Sister-in-law) ▲Oh Soo-min (Midnight Cafe) ▲Kim Bo-young (Cat, Socks).
Hwang Ga-eun, who was in charge of the January channel art, introduced that she worked on expressing citizens’ heartfelt stories through webtoons. Busan City plans to provide webtoon artists with opportunities to expand their creative worlds and offer citizens the joy of communication through this project.
Park Kwang-myung, spokesperson for Busan City, said, “We hope to promote the charm of Busan, a city where webtoon festivals are held, nationwide through collaboration with Busan webtoon artists,” and added, “We will strive to communicate and empathize more actively through Busan’s representative citizen communication channel.”
This is the BusanTube channel art from January this year, remade from a story sent by Mr. Lee. It is a webtoon capturing the family's memories engraved on the Busan sea on New Year's Day.
