Kang Sung-beom Drives Fish Cake Truck to 'Support Yoon Impeachment' Rally: "Democratic Citizens Are Amazing"

Comedian Kang Sung-beom shared the story of how he brought a food truck to a rally supporting the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol to distribute fish cakes for free.

On the 13th, the YouTube channel 'KangSungBeomTV' released a Season 2 video of 'Gye.Tte.Deul'. In the video, Kang Sung-beom mentioned that on the 11th, he went with his wife to the rally calling for President Yoon's impeachment held in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, bringing a fish cake truck and distributing fish cake soup for free.

When the host, Kang Mi-jung, spokesperson for the Party for National Innovation, said, "You handled the large crowd with the skilled hands of someone who usually sells fish cakes at that spot," Kang Sung-beom replied, "I was mistaken. It’s not something I could do alone." He added that he struggled to hand out the fish cakes due to the height of the food truck, saying, "Since I was giving them from a high place, my sense of waist disappeared later. I had to hand (the fish cakes) over with my hands, but as I did it, my waist hurt. Distributing 1,000 pieces is not easy."

Former lawmaker Choi Kang-wook, who appeared with him, said, "How did you prepare the food truck? It must not have been easy," to which Kang Sung-beom responded, "I called and checked with several companies." He continued, "We brought the broth made at home, and the three of us, including my wife, rode together. Also, I heard you shouldn’t drive the food truck fast. If you take sharp turns or brake suddenly, the food spills, so we went slowly from Ilsan to there (Gwanghwamun)."

Kang Sung-beom said, "There were a lot of food trucks. I thought there would be about four, but seeing so many overflowing, I was impressed by the democratic citizens. Overseas Koreans, mom cafes, and even individuals sent support under their own names. People from China, Japan, and Southeast Asia also came and ate." He added, "There were so many delicious foods that I greeted people standing in line at other food trucks a lot. It was so fun. I felt like I was completely healed after coming back," sharing his impressions of participating in the rally.

Earlier, in November 2021, Kang Sung-beom attracted attention by mentioning martial law on his YouTube channel. In the video at that time, ahead of the presidential election, Kang said, "When the Lee Myung-bak administration took over, people said it would be okay because democracy had already taken root in South Korea. But as soon as they came in, they blatantly crushed everything. If they hand over power this time, it will be worse than then." He raised his voice, saying, "We might experience again the martial law from 30 years ago that the late former President Chun Doo-hwan imposed." The video was reexamined after President Yoon’s December 3 emergency martial law incident.
