On the 14th, Jeollanam-do held a 'New Year Meeting for Public Corporations and Funded Institutions' at the Seo Jae-pil Room in the provincial government building, attended by the heads of 19 organizations including Jeonnam Development Corporation and Jeonnam Research Institute, reaffirming their commitment to revitalizing the local economy and restoring livelihoods.
The meeting served as an opportunity to analyze issues such as the current status of each institution and internal and external conditions, and to share visions and key policies for the year.
Excluding event-based organizations, there are a total of 19 public corporations and funded institutions under Jeollanam-do. These institutions communicate directly with residents at the administrative frontline to enhance public welfare and provide high-quality public services. This year, they plan to focus all efforts on restoring livelihoods and boosting the local economy through various key initiatives linked to provincial priorities, such as responding to the risk of local extinction, fostering future high-tech strategic industries, energy transition, creating a globally attractive city for culture and tourism, job creation and business development, as well as supporting health, welfare, and vulnerable groups.
Kim Yung-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, stated, "Due to the recent unconstitutional martial law and the impeachment crisis, as well as the December 19 Jeju Air passenger plane disaster, the local economy continues to stagnate and residents are suffering," and urged, "Please do your utmost in operating your institutions to heal the nation's pain and deliver a new message of hope to local residents."
He continued, "Thanks to the hard work and dedication in each field, residents' income reached an all-time high, ranking ninth last year," and emphasized, "Going forward, please focus not only on attracting businesses but also on providing innovative support to companies that will become the backbone of Jeonnam's economy and on discovering various startup companies."
Meanwhile, following the meeting, Governor Kim had lunch with the heads of the institutions at a nearby restaurant to encourage small business owners struggling due to the economic downturn.
