Beyond Overseas Expansion at CES 2025, Building a New Urban Identity as a 'Global Startup Innovation Hub'
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) once again demonstrated the new potential of Gwanak S Valley as a "global startup ecosystem" at CES 2025 held in Las Vegas, USA.
On January 7th at 1 PM local time, Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, presented the vision of Gwanak S Valley on the main stage at the Eureka Park Seoul Integrated Pavilion within CES 2025.
“Gwanak-gu is not simply a city that supports startups, but is redefining itself as a ‘global startup innovation hub.’ We will pioneer the global market and create a sustainable future through creativity and innovation centered on technology-based startups,” he declared.
The district expects CES 2025 to be an important milestone in its transformation from a ‘bed town’ to a ‘city of startups and innovation.’
At CES 2025, 10 resident companies participating in the Gwanak S Valley pavilion showcased innovative products and outstanding technologies in advanced fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), deep tech, and biohealth.
Each company held IR (Investor Relations) events targeting domestic and international startup stakeholders to establish footholds for overseas market entry and investment attraction.
Additionally, four companies?Rootfinders, Metafarmers, Seomjae, and NationA?received five innovation awards, recognizing Gwanak S Valley’s capabilities as a ‘global startup innovation hub.’
This year, the district plans to continue promoting Gwanak S Valley 2.0 and transform into an ‘innovative economic city.’ It aims to attract excellent venture startups, increasing the number from the current 620 to 800, while expanding startup infrastructure and focusing on attracting investment through demo days and open innovation.
In the second half of the year, the ‘Gwanak Small and Medium Venture Promotion Agency’ will be established and fully operated as a control tower for venture startups, providing comprehensive and systematic support for startups.
Mayor Park Jun-hee stated, “Gwanak S Valley will not only create a startup ecosystem as a future growth industry but will also become a core strategy to newly establish Gwanak-gu’s urban identity. We will continue to build a history of innovation and challenge in Gwanak-gu together with excellent venture startups.”
