Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 14th that it began its 2025 work report starting from the 13th.

All employees, from clerks to department and bureau heads, vice mayor, and mayor, attended the meeting, which was conducted in a horizontal discussion format. This year’s report meeting theme is undoubtedly ‘Jobs.’

The purpose is to share diverse opinions on industrial infrastructure and job creation regardless of age, department, or rank, to revitalize Goyang’s potential, which has declined due to growth centered on housing supply and population expansion.

Goyang Special City will overcome today’s crisis through a complete overhaul of the urban structure and rebranding,” adding, “I ask all staff to have the mindset of urban managers and unite their efforts for a new leap forward.”

Each department reports on the work goals for 2025 and the essential one-year operational plans that must be implemented.

Measures to quickly produce results for the core projects of the 8th elected administration will also be discussed.

In particular, the designation of the economic free zone expected to bear fruit this year, the establishment of a circulatory transportation system linked to the opening of the GTX-A line, and plans for the maintenance of aging planned cities will be intensively discussed.

Especially, the Asia-Pacific Conference to be held in Goyang in September will be thoroughly reviewed as it will be attended by over 190 cities worldwide. By successfully concluding this large international event, Goyang aims to play a leading role in the K-MICE industry and enhance the city’s brand value to attract leading companies in advanced domestic and international industries.

Mayor Lee said, “Work reports are not made to the mayor but to the citizens,” and added, “Just as Daegok, which was once greenbelt and farmland, is set to become a core self-sufficient complex in a city of 1.08 million, your innovation and passion will drive Goyang’s new leap forward.”

This work reporting meeting is scheduled to be held for all departments of Goyang City over about a month. Through swift work execution and budget discussions, it plans to inject vitality into the frozen local economy.

Meanwhile, at the New Year press conference on the 13th, Goyang Special City outlined strategies including △creating 300,000 jobs by 2030 △establishing a circulatory transportation system △cooperating for the 2036 Seoul Olympics, marking the start of a leap toward a new future.
