Mokpo National University Achieves 65.8% Employment Rate in 2023, Up 2 Percentage Points from Previous Year

Honam and Jeju National Universities Ranked No.1 for Two Consecutive Years

National Mokpo University (President Song Hacheol) announced on the 6th that its employment rate reached 65.8%, a 2.0 percentage point increase from the previous year, according to the "2023 Higher Education Institution Graduate Employment Statistics Survey" released by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Educational Development Institute on December 27 last year. This figure ranks first among the six comprehensive national universities in the Honam-Jeju region.

National Mokpo University operates a variety of employment support programs based on cooperation between the university and the local community. The university provides a customized employment service program for students, offering career and employment roadmaps according to their academic year, and is expanding not only the career guidance professor system with major professors but also mentoring programs tailored to students’ desired majors and career paths.

In addition, the university has established a one-stop consultation system for career and employment support tailored to students’ university life cycle, operates practical and diverse extracurricular programs to strengthen employment capabilities, runs projects to enhance youth employment competencies, and offers order-based education courses linked to employment in line with students’ majors. Through these various career and employment services, the university actively supports students in improving their employment competitiveness and achieving successful employment.

Furthermore, since 2020, the university has been selected for five consecutive years to operate the Jeollanam-do Youth Overseas Employment (Recruitment-type Internship - United States) Support Project. Through this project, all 30 trainees each year have successfully secured overseas employment, drawing significant attention.

Oh Myungho, Director of Student Employment, stated, "Following last year, we have once again achieved the highest employment rate among comprehensive national universities in the Honam-Jeju region, marking a remarkable accomplishment. We will continue to develop customized programs and strengthen cooperation with local related organizations to enhance the employment competitiveness of not only current students and graduates but also local youth."

National Mokpo University plans to use this achievement as a stepping stone for co-growth with the local community and will continue its efforts to support students' successful employment.
