"Claim of Attendance at Pro-Impeachment Rally by Many Chinese"
Kim Min-jeon, a former Supreme Council member of the People Power Party classified as a hardline pro-Yoon figure, shared a post and photos suggesting that "a large number of Chinese people are participating in rallies supporting the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol," calling for the consolidation of his support base.
On the 5th, Kim shared on his social media a post and photos uploaded by a hardline supporter claiming that "Chinese people are participating in rallies supporting impeachment to overthrow South Korea" and that "participants are wearing jackets from Chinese universities." However, the actual nationality of the participants in the photos has not been confirmed.
Last month, Kim, who shed tears saying "the impeachment motion is unjust," attended an anti-impeachment rally held near the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 4th. He said, "I thought the president must have been really lonely, and that he has been holding them back all this time," adding, "The essence of this fight is whether we continue to uphold liberal democracy or not. We must unite our strength to stop them," appealing to his supporters.
On the 2nd, he claimed that "everywhere I go, Chinese people are supporting the impeachment motion, and this is the essence of the impeachment," asserting that Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, pushed the impeachment bill to align with Chinese interests, calling it a fraudulent impeachment. He further pointed out, "The impeachment motion states that President Yoon should be impeached because North Korea, China, and Russia are hostile," and emphasized, "The core of this impeachment motion is whether South Korea will become a liberal democracy like the United States or a country like North Korea, China, and Russia."
