At the farewell ceremony, President Lim Young-moon shared his reflections on the past four years and six months, stating, "It was a time when I did my best in the role entrusted to me for the development of Daejin University and a better future for its members." He added, "There were achievements, but also many challenges. I am grateful to everyone who trusted and supported me."

◇ Establishing a New Turning Point for University Development

During his tenure, President Lim is recognized for laying the foundation for Daejin University to take a significant leap forward. The most notable achievement was securing Daejin University's selection as a general financial support university in the government's 3rd cycle Basic University Competency Diagnosis Evaluation. This allowed the university to secure stable financial support and establish a foundation for improving educational and research environments.

Additionally, Daejin University passed all 30 items across five areas in the university institutional evaluation certification, which will be applied from 2025, maintaining its eligibility for general financial support until 2029. This certification is an indicator that evaluates systematic university management and the provision of high-quality education, marking a shining moment of President Lim’s leadership.

In particular, the 2023 selection for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport DNA Plus Convergence Technology Graduate School project highlighted Daejin University as a hub for nurturing future convergence technology talents. This project is a program that trains specialized personnel by linking Data, Network, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) with new industries in land and transportation, receiving a total of 6.6 billion KRW in government support until 2027. This is expected to serve as a milestone for Daejin University to establish itself as a leader in core technology education for future industries.

◇ Evaluations from Daejin University Affiliates and Future Expectations

The president of the Alumni Association, who attended the farewell ceremony, evaluated, “President Lim Young-moon significantly improved the educational and research environment of Daejin University and built financial stability and a future-oriented vision, leaving a great legacy for the university and its alumni.”

The representative of the CEO Executive Program alumni also said, “President Lim was a leader who went beyond being a mere administrator, contemplating the university’s direction while pursuing both academic value and practicality.”

A Daejin University official expressed, “Especially, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport DNA Plus project created an opportunity for the university to connect academic achievements with industry and grow together with the local community,” adding, “These achievements will be a positive asset for the succeeding president.”

◇ The Beginning of New Leadership

Following President Lim Young-moon, Professor Jang Seok-hwan of the Department of Smart Construction and Environmental Engineering at Daejin University was elected as the next president. Professor Jang will assume the presidency for two years starting January 1, 2025, leading Daejin University forward.

Building on the achievements accumulated during President Lim’s tenure, Daejin University is preparing for another leap under new leadership. This farewell ceremony concluded as a moment that reflected on the university’s past and future development, leaving a profound impact on its members.
