Gwangju Bank (President Ko Byungil) announced on the 20th that it held a selection ceremony for the 11th and 12th beneficiaries of its social contribution program, "Dream Tree Where Hope Blooms," which aims to foster local talent among middle and high school students in the region who are facing difficult family circumstances.
The selection ceremony, held at the bank's headquarters, was attended by Ko Byungil, President of Gwangju Bank, and Kim Eunyoung, Head of the Gwangju Regional Office of ChildFund Korea, among others.
During the ceremony, the selected youths and their families were invited to the headquarters, where they each received a sponsorship fund of 3 million won along with gifts and supplies to help develop their talents.
"Dream Tree Where Hope Blooms" is a social contribution project by Gwangju Bank to nurture local talent among middle and high school students who strive for their dreams despite challenging family environments. The program selects students with outstanding academic or artistic achievements and good conduct, and supports them until they enter university.
To date, a total of 12 youths have been selected as "Dream Tree Where Hope Blooms" beneficiaries. They have excelled in academics and the arts, and have become role models in the community by mentoring younger students who are also in difficult circumstances.
The 11th beneficiary selected this time is a promising student in the academic field, raised by grandparents in a challenging family situation, with excellent academic performance and leadership skills. The 12th beneficiary is a talented student in the arts, coming from a single-parent family, who dreams of becoming a makeup artist and has demonstrated outstanding skills by winning multiple competitions.
Gwangju Bank plans to support both students as the 2024 "Dream Tree Where Hope Blooms" beneficiaries, providing annual "academic support funds" and "arts and sports support funds" until they enter university.
The grandmother of the 11th beneficiary said, "I will always remember the warm support from Gwangju Bank for my grandson's dream, and I hope he grows up to share kindness with others in need."
Ko Byungil, President of Gwangju Bank, stated, "Gwangju Bank will continue to systematize its local talent development projects and actively support local youth so they can pursue their dreams without being discouraged by difficult circumstances."
