He will take the field with his son Charlie. Starting on the 21st (local time) for two days, he will participate in the family team golf tournament, the PNC Championship (total prize money $1,085,000), held at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. This marks Woods' first appearance on the course in a full five months since competing in the major tournament, The Open, last July.

Woods did not participate in the Hero World Challenge, a special PGA Tour event hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation that ended on the 8th, citing that his surgically repaired back had not fully healed, making his participation in the PNC Championship uncertain. However, he decided to return to this event to spend "happy times" with his son Charlie. Woods, who has won 82 PGA Tour events in total, suffered from back spasms this year and underwent his sixth back surgery in September to alleviate the pain.

The PNC Championship is a 36-hole PGA Tour Champions event where players who have won major men's or women's tournaments team up with one family member?father, son, or daughter?to compete in pairs. This year, 20 teams will participate. Players are allowed to use golf carts during the tournament, which is why Woods is teaming up with his son.

The Woods family has been on the entry list for this tournament for five consecutive years since 2020. Last year, his daughter Sam gained attention by serving as a caddie. Their best finish was runner-up in the 2021 tournament, behind the father-son duo of John Daly (USA). Last year, they finished tied for 5th place. Woods said, "I am happy to compete again at the PNC Championship with Charlie. We look forward to playing together, and it is always great to spend time with friends and family."

Among the participants who have registered are the father-son team of Bernhard Langer (Germany), last year's champions, as well as Daly, Nick Faldo (England), Vijay Singh (Fiji), David Duval, Fred Couples, Lee Trevino (all USA), and Padraig Harrington (Ireland). Additionally, Nelly Korda (USA) will compete with her father Petr, who won the Australian Open tennis major. "Golf Empress" Annika Sorenstam (Sweden) will participate with her son Will McGee.
