Mayor Lee Jangwoo: "I Will Do My Utmost to Prevent National Hardships from Leading to Regional Turmoil" Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, presiding over the weekly business meeting on the 9th / Daejeon City

On the 14th, Daejeon Mayor Lee Jangwoo issued a statement following the passage of the impeachment bill against President Yoon Sukyeol, saying, "I deeply regret the anxiety and concern that citizens may feel due to this situation," and added, "As the mayor responsible for Daejeon during this critical time, I feel a profound sense of mission and responsibility."


He continued, "Together with over 4,000 public officials of Daejeon City, I will do my utmost to protect the lives and property of our citizens and ensure that national difficulties do not lead to regional turmoil," emphasizing, "We will establish strict discipline among public officials so that everyone can faithfully fulfill their duties and focus on their assigned tasks."


Mayor Lee also stated, "To alleviate citizens' anxiety, we will thoroughly manage order and safety in the local community," and appealed, "I ask all citizens to return to their daily lives and focus on their livelihoods with a calm mind rather than worry."


On the same afternoon, Choi Chungkyu, head of Daedeok District Office, also presided over an emergency executive meeting and declared, "We will mobilize all administrative resources of Daedeok District to protect the safe daily lives of our residents."


He added, "It is extremely important for public officials to remain steadfast and provide trustworthy administration that instills confidence in the people, regardless of the situation," and continued, "All 800 public officials of Daedeok District should not be swayed by the central government's situation, but instead pay closer attention to the difficulties of our residents and ensure that key projects crucial to Daedeok's future proceed without setbacks."


Daedeok District has also formed and activated a 'Livelihood Stability Task Force' led by the deputy district head.
