Kim Dong-yeon "Impeachment of the Chief of Rebellion in Eleven Days... A Great Victory of the People"

Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon on the 14th praised the National Assembly's passage of the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol as a "great victory for the people."

Governor Kim met with reporters in front of the KDB Industrial Bank headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, immediately after the National Assembly passed the impeachment motion, stating, "(This impeachment passage) saved the Republic of Korea from a rebellion and saved democracy."

He continued, "We impeached the ringleader of the rebellion just eleven days after the rebellion," raising his voice, "It cannot be anything but a great victory for the people."

However, he added, "Impeachment is not the end but the beginning," saying, "It is the first day of opening a new chapter in Korean democracy and reviving the collapsed economy."

He also urged, "Since political uncertainty has been removed, the entire nation must unite its strength to quickly restore the economy that has been broken down."

Furthermore, he said, "While celebrating our people's victory today, it is the first day of reopening a new path for the Republic of Korea together with all citizens," promising, "I will stand with our people and the great people until the end."

Meanwhile, the second impeachment motion against President Yoon was passed with 204 votes in favor out of 300 members present in the National Assembly that day.

Once the impeachment resolution is delivered to President Yoon, his duties as head of diplomacy, defense, and administration will be immediately suspended, and Prime Minister Han Duck-soo will act as the acting president.
