"We Will Reveal the Truth to the End with the People"

The Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice (CCEJ) stated on the 14th at the National Assembly regarding the passage of the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol, "We hope this impeachment passage will be the first step in restoring democracy and constitutional order," and added, "We will do our best to protect democracy by revealing the truth together with the people until the end, and through institutional reforms and concrete actions to prevent recurrence."

In a statement issued that day, CCEJ said, "This is a national judgment on the president's unconstitutional declaration of martial law, which seriously damaged the constitutional order, and a significant turning point for the restoration of democracy."

CCEJ stated, "Strict judgment according to the constitution and law must be made against President Yoon and other responsible parties. To this end, Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo should promptly appoint the three vacant constitutional court justices to normalize the functions of the Constitutional Court," and added, "The Constitutional Court must thoroughly review the impeachment motion, including the substantive and procedural legitimacy of the martial law declaration and the president's ability to perform duties."

CCEJ also said, "Judicial institutions such as the prosecution, police, and the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) must immediately take detention measures to prevent the destruction of evidence by the president and responsible parties, and begin investigations to uncover the full details of the premeditation and execution process of the martial law declaration and the deployment of military forces," and added, "The special prosecutor must also promptly begin investigations to hold the relevant responsible parties strictly legally accountable."
