'Support from People Power' Content Spreads on SNS
Kim "False Posts Existed Before... This Is Already the Third Time"
Kim Hong-shin, the author of the novel 'Ingan Sijang' (Human Market), announced that he will request a police investigation, stating that false impeachment-related posts using his name are circulating.
On the 14th, Yonhap News reported that posts supporting and cheering for the People Power Party, written under Kim's name, are spreading mainly through KakaoTalk. Kim himself sent this post titled "People Power Party, Do Not Despair Now" directly to Yonhap News.
The post contains claims such as "The Jusapa (pro-North Korean faction) Democratic Party, which has taken control of the National Assembly, monopolizes the budget and is driving the country to ruin," "The last desperate acts of pro-North forces and the pro-China Sadaejuui (servility) factions are fueling today's chaos," and "Everything aimed at removing the president under the pretext of emergency martial law, a presidential prerogative, is aligned with Lee Jae-myung's prison sentence and detention."
Kim stated, "I have been volunteering in Mindanao, Philippines, with Buddhist monk Beopryun for a week since the 8th," adding, "However, posts in my name that I did not write are being widely shared through KakaoTalk and other means." He also said this was not the first time such an incident occurred. Kim said, "Three years ago, false posts praising former President Park Geun-hye as a saint circulated massively under my name, and two years ago, fabricated posts harshly criticizing Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party, were widely shared under my name."
He further claimed, "The person who wrote and circulated these false posts does not seem to personally know me," and "It appears that some individual or group is using my name."
Kim said, "I have endured so far because I have wanted to avoid personal lawsuits and complaints, focusing on public matters throughout my life," but added, "However, I can no longer tolerate being disgraced by posts I did not write. I plan to request a police investigation through a lawyer."
Kim Hong-shin, famous for his 1981 novel 'Ingan Sijang' (Human Market), served as a proportional representative member of the National Assembly for eight years, affiliated with the Unified Democratic Party in 1996 and the Grand National Party in 2000. After retiring from politics, he actively engaged in broadcasting and lectures. He has continued writing steadily, publishing the 10-part novel 'Daebalhae' in 2007 and an essay collection titled 'Gyeog-eobomyeon Anda' (You Know When You Experience It) last July. On the 7th, he signed a political declaration demanding President Yoon's resignation, joined by over 200 cultural and artistic organizations and 5,000 cultural artists.
