Guri City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced that it held an opening ceremony at 11 a.m. on the 12th to commemorate the completion of Geombae Sports and Culture Center and Sutaek Lifelong Learning Center.

About 200 people, including Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri City, attended the event, which began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Geombae Sports and Culture Center and an unveiling ceremony at Sutaek Lifelong Learning Center, followed by progress reports, presentation of appreciation plaques, commemorative and congratulatory speeches, and a facility tour.
Geombae Sports and Culture Center, which began construction in July 2022 with a total project cost of 21.5 billion KRW, was built with a total floor area of 5,246㎡ and four above-ground floors. The first floor houses a parking lot, the second floor features a 25m six-lane swimming pool, the third floor includes a multipurpose gymnasium and GX room, and the fourth floor contains the Sutaek Lifelong Learning Center, forming a multipurpose complex space for residents' sports activities and cultural life.
Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun said in his commemorative speech, “Geombae Sports and Culture Center is a space where sports facilities and lifestyle culture facilities are integrated, and through the operation of various sports and cultural programs, it will be managed as a space that contributes to citizens' health improvement and leisure activities.” He added, “We will continue to strive to create spaces where citizens can enjoy more comfortable and safe sports activities and foster communication and exchange among residents.”
Meanwhile, Geombae Sports and Culture Center plans to begin pilot operation of the facilities starting on the 18th, offering free swimming programs, and will accept membership applications from January 9 to 17, 2025, with official operations commencing on February 1.
Additionally, the Sutaek Lifelong Learning Center, which will provide specialized cultural and artistic programs and lifestyle-oriented programs, plans to conduct pilot operation of opening commemorative programs for four weeks in January 2025, with regular programs starting in March.
