The Power of Volunteers Bringing Warmth to Pohang, Volunteer Conference Held

Certificates Awarded to 503 Volunteers Including 75 with Over 1,000 Hours Annually

Pohang City held the 2024 Pohang City Volunteer Conference under the theme "Your Day, The World's Hope" on the 12th at the Daejam Hall in the Culture Building of City Hall, hosted by the Pohang City Volunteer Center.

On the 12th, a volunteer conference was held at Daejam Hall in Munhwa-dong, City Hall, under the theme "Your Day, The World's Hope," featuring a performance. Provided by Pohang City

The conference was held to encourage volunteers who contributed to creating a happy Pohang through active sharing and participation in the local community throughout the year.

During the event, government awards and commendations were presented to volunteers who contributed to creating a hopeful society with warm hands for marginalized groups and neighbors in need.

The awardees included ▲Presidential Citation Park Soon-hee (Chairperson of Yeongilman Supporters) ▲Prime Minister's Citation Son Young-hee (Chairperson of Hair Love), Jang Young-hee (Team Leader of Happy Store Volunteer Group) ▲Minister of the Interior and Safety Citation Ahn Sung-jun (Manager at EcoPro EM) ▲Minister of Health and Welfare Citation Grime (Pohang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center), among others.

Additionally, the Pohang Mayor's Citation was awarded to three organizations, including the Korea Beauty Association Pohang Buk-gu Branch, and 32 individuals.

Furthermore, a total of 503 volunteers received certificates of service, including 75 Volunteer Kings who volunteered over 1,000 hours annually, 50 Gold Medalists (over 700 hours), 97 Silver Medalists (over 500 hours), and 281 Bronze Medalists (over 300 hours).

Kim Sang-su, Chairman of the Pohang City Volunteer Center, said, "Thanks to the volunteers who took the lead in sharing, caring, and living together with neighbors, our society has become warmer," and added, "I express my respect and gratitude to the volunteers who devoted themselves to their neighbors throughout the year."

Mayor Lee Kang-deok said, "I appreciate the hard work of volunteers who have dedicated themselves to making Pohang warmer and more hopeful," and added, "We will spare no support so that volunteers can take pride and engage in more active activities in the future."
