600 People Randomly Selected... Ongoing Until the 17th
Gwangju City announced on the 9th that it will conduct a satisfaction survey targeting field workers by the 17th regarding the detailed projects for improving the treatment of social welfare facility workers.
This survey pertains to the third phase (2024?2026) of efforts to improve the treatment of social welfare facility workers, which has been underway since August.
The survey covers three projects aimed at establishing a single wage guarantee and ten projects for enhancing welfare benefits. It will be conducted by randomly selecting 600 workers from approximately 3,900 employees at 649 facilities subject to treatment improvement. The survey consists of 11 questions, including which specific projects workers are satisfied with and the extent to which these projects are being implemented at their facilities.
Earlier, the city finalized the third phase plan for improving the treatment of social welfare facility workers with the goal of "creating a happy workplace where both body and mind are healthy." This includes transitioning all social welfare facility workers to a seniority-based pay system to guarantee a single wage, introducing a health check-up leave system for welfare benefits, and supporting comprehensive health check-up expenses to ensure workers' health rights. Establishing a single wage system and improving labor conditions for workers are pledges made by Mayor Kang Gi-jung in the 8th local government administration.
Such treatment improvements have long been a wish of the social welfare field, and this survey is expected to confirm the actual satisfaction of field workers.
Gwangju City plans to announce the survey results early next year after analysis by a professional firm, and will review them when establishing detailed policy directions in the future.
Choi Seon-young, Director of the Care Policy Division, said, "Improving the treatment of social welfare facility workers goes beyond simply addressing workers' welfare issues; it is directly linked to the qualitative improvement of services for socially vulnerable groups. We will strive to ensure that this satisfaction survey helps build a sustainable social welfare system."
