The Winter Seminar of the National University Student Affairs Directors Council was held for three days and two nights from the 4th to the 6th at the Ramada Plaza Jeju Hotel.
At the seminar, Hyunseok Bang, Director of Student Affairs at Dongmyung University, was appointed as the 50th new president. Newly appointed President Bang, who will take on the important role of leading the council’s vision and direction, expressed his commitment, saying, “I hope we have a meaningful time finding ways to wisely cope with the realities and crises each university will face,” and “I will do my best for the development of the council.”
At this seminar, Jeonghee Kim, Director of the Korea Council for University Education, delivered measures to support students with disabilities to receive education without discrimination, and Hyungseok Lee, Director at Hanyang University, introduced the innovative scholarship program ‘Yanadu’ with the slogan ‘Ya NaDo Can Do It!’ which provides practical support to students.
Sungjin Choi, a professor at Dongmyung University, emphasized the importance of counseling to prevent dropout among enrolled students through his presentation titled ‘Becoming the Master of a Happy Life.’
Seonggeun Bae, Executive Director of the Korea Student Aid Foundation, and Yangju Lee, Director at the Ministry of Education, shared information on the policy direction of the National Scholarship Type II for 2025 along with the vision of support that educational institutions can provide to youth. The talk show on innovative approaches and cases of freshman orientation programs prepared by directors Seongjin Jeong (Sahmyook University), Byunggi Kim (Korea University of Technology and Education), and Jongseok Kim (Jeonbuk National University) became a forum for discussions to help freshmen successfully start their university life.
The National University Student Affairs Directors Council was established in 1975 and currently has 189 member universities. Its purpose is to promote friendship among member universities, exchange materials and information on student welfare and support work between universities, share cases of proper school life and effective student guidance, and enhance understanding and cooperation through communication with the Ministry of Education and the Korea Student Aid Foundation.
