Inspection of Snow Removal Facilities, Equipment, and Personnel
Managers from 8 national airlines and 5 ground handling companies conducted an inspection to prepare for heavy snowfall during the winter season.
Korea Airports Corporation announced on the 9th that it held a 'Joint Inspection Meeting with Related Organizations for Snow Removal and De-icing Preparedness' at its headquarters in Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
The meeting was held with the purpose of identifying the causes of flight delays and cancellations caused by the record-breaking heavy snowfall at the end of last month, and to inspect facilities, equipment, and personnel to ensure smoother aircraft snow removal and de-icing operations.
Additionally, the corporation plans to conduct a joint de-icing simulation exercise this month at Gimpo Airport, assuming a heavy snowfall scenario, to review aircraft de-icing operations and air traffic control procedures. They will also conduct on-site inspections of de-icing facility capacity and fluid reserves, and consider expanding dedicated aprons for de-icing to prepare for adverse weather conditions.
Jung Geun-jung, Head of the Construction Technology Division at Korea Airports Corporation, stated, "We plan to minimize inconveniences caused by flight delays and cancellations during the winter season through close cooperation with airlines and ground handling companies."
