Jeollanam-do has published a casebook compiling the best practices of the ‘Our Neighborhood Welfare Task Force,’ recognized as one of the nation’s outstanding policies.
Launched in 2019 as the first of its kind nationwide, the Jeonnam Welfare Task Force has established itself as a public-private cooperative welfare safety net that proactively identifies and supports vulnerable households while resolving daily inconveniences for disadvantaged groups, earning recognition as a national model case.
Over the past six years, the Welfare Task Force has supported approximately 174,000 households across 22 cities and counties. Their diverse activities range from providing daily conveniences such as replacing light bulbs and repairing homes to offering emergency support for households in crisis, delivering tangible assistance to residents.
The casebook includes 44 exemplary cases carried out in 2024 by Welfare Task Forces in 22 cities and counties and 297 towns, townships, and neighborhoods. It details the process from identifying vulnerable households to providing support, as well as the linkage with private resources, capturing vivid scenes and achievements of Welfare Task Force activities tailored to the characteristics of each region.
Representative cases include ▲ Yeonggwang-gun’s ‘Dream Study Room Support Project,’ ▲ Haenam-gun’s ‘Bulgeum (Friday Lighting) Operation,’ ▲ Suncheon-si’s ‘Electric Water Heater Installation Support,’ and ▲ Gurye-gun’s ‘Remote Village Outlet Replacement Project.’ These cases have been highly praised for solving problems in cooperation with local residents.
Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, stated in the foreword, "The Welfare Task Force has become a reliable shield for our residents," and added, "I hope this casebook will help spread the Welfare Task Force’s activities nationwide and become an opportunity to bring hope to more neighbors."
The casebook will be distributed to related organizations such as the Jeonnam Provincial Council, Jeonnam Social Service Institute, cities and counties, and towns, townships, and neighborhoods to widely promote the achievements of the Welfare Task Force and be actively used as policy material.
