Cyber司 NCO Leaked Confidential Information After Receiving Bribes
Amid the turmoil caused by the declaration of martial law, an incident suspected of confidential information leakage occurred at the Republic of Korea Cyber Command. A non-commissioned officer reportedly received money and handed over military secrets to a hacker.
According to the Ministry of National Defense on the 9th, Sergeant A, belonging to the Cyber Command responsible for overseeing the military's cyber operations, recently confessed to receiving money from a hacker and handing over internal materials including military secrets. The Defense Counterintelligence Command is investigating the matter, and it is known that the counterintelligence unit identified the facts on the 2nd, one day before the martial law was declared.
Yeoinhyeong, the commander of the Defense Counterintelligence Command, held several meetings with staff members including Jeong Seong-woo, Chief of the 1st Division, and Kim Dae-woo, Head of the Investigation Unit, from the morning of the day martial law was declared. This has raised suspicions that the martial law was premeditated. However, Commander Ye and others have denied this, stating that the meetings were held to discuss handling the current incident.
In August of this year, it was revealed that a civilian employee belonging to the Republic of Korea Intelligence Command handed over a list of secret agents to China.
