Sampyo Industry Incheon Ready-Mix Concrete Plant Introduces ARS, "All-in on Safety"
Spnature Dangjin Plant Deploys Autonomous Patrol Robots
Sampyo Group is making every effort to prevent accidents at construction sites and is dedicating company-wide efforts to safety management. In particular, to alleviate concerns about industrial accidents, the group has attracted attention by being the first in the industry to integrate big data-based AI (artificial intelligence) technology into the safety field.
Sampyo Group, a specialist in construction basic materials, recently began jointly developing a customized safety system with Guardian AI Co., Ltd., which possesses core technologies in AI vision recognition and autonomous driving robots. By introducing the ARS (AI-based Reaction System), which performs proactive commands through interaction between robots and AI-based control systems, it is expected that safety at industrial sites will be significantly enhanced, shifting from a reactive system to a proactive one.

Among Sampyo Group affiliates, Sampyo Industrial’s Incheon Ready-Mix Concrete Plant will be the first to adopt AI vision recognition technology. An AI detection fall-prevention system will be installed in the product shipping area to check whether workers are wearing safety equipment, and it will control access to workspaces and product shipping permissions, monitoring all major worksite situations in real time.
At SP Nature’s Dangjin Slag Plant, an autonomous patrol robot equipped with various sensors including infrared and thermal cameras, measuring 85 cm wide, 60 cm long, 90 cm high, and weighing 90 kg, will be deployed. During patrols, it will detect temperature, humidity, smoke, and gases, ensuring the safety of large trucks and workers 24 hours a day.
At the Dangjin plant, a system to measure the berthing speed of cargo ships has also been applied, preventing accidents caused by collisions at the dock during bad weather. AI technology using laser equipment for speed measurement detects the approaching speed of ships, and if the speed exceeds the regulation, warnings and broadcasts are simultaneously transmitted through a display installed in the control room to control the speed.
Sampyo Group plans to expand and introduce AI safety technology across all sectors including cement, ready-mix concrete, and aggregates. Each factory will establish individual control systems, and the newly established 'AI Safety Management Team (tentative name)' at the group headquarters will comprehensively analyze data from all factories through an integrated control system to optimize safety management.
A Sampyo Group official said, "Through cooperation with Guardian AI, we have established an important milestone for building a safe working environment beyond simple accident prevention," adding, "This will serve as an opportunity for AI-based safety management systems to spread to other industrial sectors."
