Pocheon-si Takes First Step to Establish Drone Leisure Ecosystem at the Heart of the Seoul Metropolitan Area

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) has taken the first step toward fostering the drone leisure industry centered in the metropolitan area.

On the 2nd, the city held a kickoff meeting for the research project "Pocheon City Drone Leisure Industry Development Plan" in the city hall conference room, discussing the development direction and execution strategies for the drone leisure industry.

The meeting was attended by Baek Young-hyun, Mayor of Pocheon, Kim Nam-hyun, Director of Population Growth Bureau, and key department officials.

This research project aims to explore the development potential of the drone leisure industry by utilizing Pocheon's geographical advantages, natural environment, and tourism resources, targeting tangible outcomes such as developing new business models combining drone leisure sports and tourism.

In particular, major tasks included developing drone tourism content linked to the Hantangang UNESCO Global Geopark, attracting projects for establishing a drone demonstration city, and formulating strategies to revitalize the local economy, reflecting the potential of the drone industry and Pocheon's unique regional characteristics.

Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon stated, "The drone industry is a rapidly growing new industry, and Pocheon is focusing on this field through leading projects such as the establishment of the Advanced Defense Drone Industrial Complex," adding, "We plan to present a new business model that integrates the drone industry with tourism and leisure sports by leveraging Pocheon's geographical strengths and the Hantangang World Cultural Heritage."
