Yeongam-gun and Yancheng City, China, Sign MOU for Future Car Industry Cooperation

Participation in Korea-China Trade and Investment Expo... Activities to Attract Overseas Companies

Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do recently made an official visit to Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, China, for a 4-night, 5-day schedule, signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to foster the future automobile industry and participating in the Korea-China Trade and Investment Expo, among other activities to promote regional cooperation and attract investment.


According to the county on the 3rd, Yancheng City is a large city located in the northeastern part of Jiangsu Province, China, with an area of 170,700 km² and a population of 8.28 million. It is a specialized region for advanced industries such as future automobiles, new energy, and bio industries. In particular, the Yancheng Economic and Technological Development Zone shows rapid growth based on four specialized complexes consisting of a comprehensive bonded zone, Korean industry, optoelectronics industry, and new energy automobile industry.

The delegation, led by Min Il-gi, Deputy Governor of Yeongam-gun, was accompanied by Lee Tae-hee, Director of the Premium Automobile Center at the Korea Automotive Technology Institute, to discuss cooperation plans in the advanced automobile sector. Both cities agreed in the MOU to jointly promote technological cooperation in the future automobile sector, strengthen the establishment of an industrial ecosystem, and pursue sustainable economic growth.


The delegation then visited Yuedal Special Vehicle Co., Ltd., an eco-friendly special electric vehicle company, to inspect the current status of electric special vehicles and new energy technology development and discuss investment attraction plans. They also attended the "Korea-China Trade and Investment Expo and Korea-China Industrial Complex Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Meeting" held at the Yancheng International Convention Center to explore cooperation possibilities in eco-friendly mobility and advanced industries and to engage in activities to attract overseas investment companies.


Deputy Governor Min Il-gi stated in an interview with China’s state-run CCTV, “Cooperation with Yancheng City will be an important opportunity for Yeongam-gun to leap forward as a hub for the future automobile industry,” adding, “We will achieve mutual development and sustainable growth between the two regions through this cooperation.”


Meanwhile, Yeongam-gun plans to expand the foundation of the future automobile industry and establish a global cooperation system based on the investment attraction and technological cooperation measures discussed in this agreement, laying the groundwork to become a leading city in the future automobile and new energy industries.
