Recently, there have been consecutive cases of "no-shows" where individuals impersonating military officers placed large group orders at restaurants and then cut off contact, prompting the police to launch a joint investigation.
According to the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters on the 3rd, a total of 76 cases nationwide have been confirmed where large or group orders were placed, or payments were made under the pretense of proxy purchasing combat rations or food ingredients, after which the perpetrators disappeared.
The National Police Agency designated the Gangwon Provincial Police's Criminal Mobile Unit as the dedicated investigation team the day before and ordered the consolidation of cases nationwide.
A police official stated, "We urge small business owners to exercise special caution when accepting large orders by setting reservation deposits and verifying official phone numbers."
