Local Government Productivity Awarded 'Minister of the Interior and Safety Award'

Jindo County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Hee-su) was awarded the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award for ranking first nationwide in the economic excellence case category at the 14th Local Government Productivity Awards ceremony held at the Government Seoul Office on the 26th.

According to the county on the 28th, the "Local Government Productivity Awards" have been evaluating the competitiveness of local governments since 2011 by comprehensively measuring efforts and capabilities to improve residents' quality of life and public services from a productivity perspective.

Last year, Jindo County collaborated with McDonald's to launch a burger using Jindo green onions for the first time, which was highly praised as a model case of a loconomy where companies and producers coexist by increasing the product value of Jindo green onions and expanding sales channels.

Meanwhile, the launch of the Jindo green onion burger through collaboration with McDonald's won the Prime Minister's Award at the Government Innovation Excellence Case Competition and the Excellence Award in Proactive Administration last year.

Based on this successful loconomy case, Jindo County plans to produce and sell various products using excellent agricultural and marine products produced in Jindo to revitalize the local economy.

Governor Kim Hee-su expressed his thoughts, saying, "Jindo green onions, grown in the sea breeze of Jindo surrounded by the sea on all sides, have a deep aroma and are rich in minerals. I hope that the excellence of Jindo green onions will be known nationwide through this award and become an opportunity to be loved even more by consumers."
