Checking the Rescue Response Posture at Haenam Eoranjin Port Visit
Lee Myung-jun, Commissioner of the West Sea Coast Guard Agency, inspected the security sites in the Wando area on the 20th to prevent marine accidents during the winter season and to check the rescue response system.
According to the West Sea Coast Guard Agency on the 21st, Commissioner Lee visited Eoranjin Port in Haenam-gun, inspected the safety management status of single-person fishing vessels and aquaculture management vessels, which have recently experienced frequent accidents, and closely examined the interior and exterior of docked vessels with fishery workers.

He particularly emphasized that single-person fishing vessels lack wireless equipment and location transmitters, making it difficult to determine their location, and that in case of an accident, there is no helper, which can easily lead to casualties. He urged the selection of high-risk accident areas for intensified patrols and the habitual wearing of life jackets.
He then visited the temporary office of the Ttangkkeut Police Substation, where extension construction is underway, to encourage on-site staff and check the progress of the construction and the emergency rescue response system.
Lee Myung-jun, Commissioner of the West Sea Coast Guard Agency, stated, “We are establishing an accident response system through frontline site inspections. We will focus on managing vulnerable vessels in preparation for winter marine accidents and improve safety hazards through cooperation with related organizations.”
