Discovering Excellent Seafood and Collaborating on Online Sales
Expanding Entry of Namhae-gun Seafood Brand 'Namhae Dareum'
Coupang is partnering with Namhae-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do to discover excellent local seafood products and support their online sales.
On the 21st, Coupang announced that it will sign a win-win cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Namhae-gun to expand sales channels and revitalize online sales of local seafood products. Namhae-gun will actively identify seafood food and fresh seafood companies and organizations that can partner with Coupang. Coupang will support the online sales of Namhae-gun seafood.
Coupang and Namhae-gun also plan to cooperate in actively promoting and boosting sales of Namhae-gun’s joint seafood brand, "Namhae Dareum." Namhae Dareum is a brand name meaning "distinctive Namhae-gun seafood," first registered in 2022 to promote Namhae-gun seafood. Currently, 24 companies and 44 products use the Namhae Dareum brand. Coupang is reviewing new companies and products using the Namhae Dareum brand.
Through this agreement, Coupang customers will be able to enjoy excellent seafood from Namhae-gun, such as octopus, horned turban shells, oysters, and anchovies, more quickly and fresh via Rocket Fresh. These seafood products are delivered by Coupang’s Rocket Fresh direct-from-origin system, where orders placed by 1 p.m. are delivered by early the next morning. The company explained that freshness and delivery quality are maintained because freshly caught seafood is immediately packaged on-site, inspected and checked, then delivered by refrigerated trucks.
Lee Seong-han, head of Coupang Rocket Fresh, said, "We will continue to seek collaboration with local governments to contribute to regional economic development and strive to provide customers with high-quality seafood at reasonable prices."
