Choi Jin-sik, Chairman of the Korea Federation of Medium-sized Enterprises, attended a dinner hosted by Koichi Mizushima, Ambassador of Japan to Korea, on the 19th to discuss ways to revitalize economic exchanges between Korea and Japan centered on medium-sized enterprises.
The dinner held at the Japanese Ambassador’s residence in Korea was attended by Choi Jin-sik, Chairman of the Federation of Medium-sized Enterprises; Koo Ja-kwan, Responsible Representative Partner of Samgu I&C; Park Il-dong, Chairman of Disec; Jeon Seong-ho, Chairman of SoluM; Yoon Young-mi, CEO of Highland Food; Yoo Ki-duk, Chairman of Deokil Industry; Shin Yong-moon, Vice Chairman of Wonil Special Steel; and Lee Ho-jun, Executive Vice Chairman of the Federation of Medium-sized Enterprises.

The medium-sized enterprise representatives emphasized the global technological competitiveness secured by medium-sized enterprises across various industrial sectors including traditional manufacturing, materials, parts, and equipment (SoBuJang), semiconductors, and ICT, and stated the need for revitalizing exchanges and active cooperation among medium-sized enterprises for the mutual economic development of both countries.
A medium-sized enterprise representative present at the event said, "Even if we establish a sales corporation in Japan and supply products under excellent conditions, it is difficult to break through the firmly established existing business networks of Japanese companies," adding, "As a foreign company, there are difficulties in meeting bidding conditions, but since business track records are necessary for smooth entry into the Japanese market and building cooperative systems, we hope that opportunities for participation in projects by the Japanese government and local governments will be expanded."
Chairman Choi stated, "Strategic cooperation combining the technological capabilities and know-how of Korean and Japanese medium-sized enterprises will be a starting point for both countries to effectively respond to rapidly changing market environments such as the reorganization of global supply chains," and added, "On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Korea-Japan diplomatic normalization next year, we will do our best to establish a differentiated and practical cooperative system led by the medium-sized enterprise sectors of both countries."
