Mayor Lee Hyun-jae, who has been volunteering for traffic safety at elementary schools in the district for 14 years to create a pedestrian-centered traffic culture within child protection zones, strengthened cooperation among related organizations for improving the educational environment by volunteering together for the second time, following the joint traffic safety campaign with Superintendent Oh Seong-ae at Changwoo Elementary School in April.
Hanam City is implementing various child safety protection policies to create an environment where "children can walk safely and securely," including △ operating a walking school bus to assist safe walking to school △ establishing Hanam-style school zones to achieve zero traffic accidents within child protection zones (school zones) △ operating elementary school security guards (school safety guardians) responsible for children's safety inside and outside schools.
Mayor Lee Hyun-jae said, "I am grateful to the Gwangju Hanam Office of Education and the Green Mothers' Association who protect the children's way to school, and I will continue to make efforts to prioritize children's safety and create a Hanam that is good for raising children and full of happiness."
