LG Magna Wins Presidential Award at the 23rd Korea Safety Awards

Establishment of Safety, Health, Environment, and Energy Management Policy
Promotion of Activities to Identify, Improve, and Block Risk Factors

LG Magna e-Powertrain, a joint venture in the automotive electronics sector, announced on the 5th that it received the Presidential Award at the 23rd Korea Safety Awards.

The Korea Safety Awards were established in 2002 by the National Fire Agency and the Korea Safety Certification Institute to raise safety awareness among citizens and companies and to promote voluntary safety management. LG Magna was founded in July 2021 as a joint venture between LG Electronics and Magna, a global automotive parts company. It is responsible for the electric vehicle powertrain business, including driving motors, inverters, and converters, which serve as the heart of electric vehicles, playing a key role in LG Electronics' automotive electronics division.

LG Magna was recognized for its high safety awareness among employees and the normalization of improvement activities to create a safe environment. Its fire safety facilities and monitoring systems for hazardous work areas were also highly evaluated. Since its inception, LG Magna has systematically built a safety culture across all domestic and international management activities under the philosophy that "nothing is more important than employee safety." It has established the "Safety, Health, Environment, and Energy Management Policy" to proactively identify and improve potential hazards in the workplace.

Beyond complying with domestic and international safety regulations, LG Magna has set its own standards to foster a healthy and safe working environment. Key safety guidelines include the prohibition of arbitrary removal of safety devices, prohibition of unauthorized access to operating equipment such as conveyors, and adherence to the three major principles when working on ladders, all encompassed in the "Safety and Health Rules."

LG Magna prevents major accidents through its Safety and Environment Office directly under the CEO and the Safety Committee. It has developed emergency manuals and regularly conducts drills to prepare for disaster and accident situations, while continuously inspecting facilities. Thanks to this systematic management, no major accidents have occurred since its launch. Over 5,000 construction projects within the workplace, including those involving fire, electricity, heavy equipment, confined spaces, and hazardous chemicals, have all been completed without safety incidents.

Jung Won-seok, CEO of LG Magna, stated, "We will engrain the principle of 'No work is done if it is not safe' and create a safety culture that everyone adheres to."
